Posting to the forum

Posting to this site is simple. Here's how to get started:

  1. Register for an account if you haven't already.
  2. Browse the forums to find a suitable category to post a new topic in or an existing post or comment to post a reply to. You may either
    • click Post new forum topic at the top of a forum to post a new topic for discussion, or
    • click Add new comment or Reply below a post to reply to it.

  3. Type in the Subject of your post and the Body. When you are done, click Preview to verify that it looks all right, or click Submit to publish it to the site.

    Tip:

    If you'd like to apply formatting to your post, by default posts are in WikiMedia format – the same format that is used on the popular Wikipedia site. If you prefer to format your post using HTML, click the Input format link below the Body field and select Filtered HTML. For help on either format, click Compose tips from the left-hand navigation.

Subscribing to post notifications

To keep updated on new topics that are posted to the forums or to follow a given topic thread, you can sign up for new post notification e-mails.

To be notified when a new topic is posted to a forum:

  1. Register for an account if you haven't already.
  2. Click My subscriptions from the left-hand navigation.
  3. Click Categories at the top of the page.
  4. Select which forum categories for which you would like to receive new post notification e-mails, then click Save.

To be notified when a new comment is posted in a topic's comment thread:

  1. Register for an account if you haven't already.
  2. Browse the forums and locate the topic you would like to subscribe to.
  3. Click Subscribe post below the topic body. You will receive an e-mail whenever someone posts a comment in this topic's thread.
Tip:

You will be automatically subscribed to comment notifications for topics that you post. If you would like to turn off this feature, go to My Account, click Edit, uncheck the Autosubscribe checkbox, then click Submit.

Flagging questionable content

Posts should conform to the Post Guidelines. If you encounter a forum topic or comment that you find doesn't meet these guidelines or is otherwise questionable, you can flag it for a moderator to investigate.

To flag a post:

  1. Click Flag this below the body of the post.
  2. Click Flag to confirm.
